1. Why do I still see non-essential cookies in my browser after declining them?
When you decline cookies using Termly’s Consent Management Platform (CMP), it prevents new non-essential cookies from being set. However, it does not remove cookies that were already stored in your browser before your selection. Once scripts are blocked, they won’t run or access those stored cookies, but the cookies themselves will remain until you remove them manually.
2. Is this GDPR compliant?
Yes. Under GDPR, opting out means stopping further data processing, and that’s exactly what Termly does—blocking the related scripts from running. However, since cookies are stored on your device, only you can delete them. Our Cookie Policy provides instructions on how to remove cookies and adjust your browser settings for additional control.
3. Why doesn’t Termly delete cookies when I say no to them?
Cookies are stored in your browser, and only you can delete them. This is standard for Consent Management Platforms (CMPs). When you update your preferences, Termly saves your consent choice and blocks future tracking, but existing cookies will remain until removed manually. For guidance, check our Cookie Policy.
4. What if I request cookie deletion through a Data Subject Access Request (DSAR)?
If you submit a DSAR requesting cookie removal, you’ll be directed to our Cookie Policy, which explains how to delete cookies from your browser. Since cookies are stored on your device, they can only be removed by you.
5. How does Termly handle opt-out settings in different regions?
If you're visiting a site from a jurisdiction where opt-out rights apply (such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, or other U.S. states with similar privacy laws), all cookies (including those used for targeted advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking) are set unless you affirmatively optout ( eg. using Preference center). If you exercise your right to opt out later, Termly's CMP will (i) immediately disable all non-essential cookies and scripts. Termly also honors browser-based opt-out signals, such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC), where required by law and enabled by our customer.
6. Does Termly update consent settings for all cookie categories?
Yes. When you change your preferences, Termly updates the consent state accordingly. However, certain essential cookies—such as those related to security—may still be active to ensure the website functions properly.
7. How can I completely remove all cookies?
To delete all cookies from your browser, you will need to do so manually. Our Cookie Policy includes steps on how to remove cookies and adjust your settings for services that use them.
