If your business sells or shares personal information and is subject to the CCPA (as amended by the CPRA in 2023), your website must display a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link and a secondary "Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information" link. Termly generates both links for you on the California Requirements page so you can add them to your site without any coding.
These links are typically placed in your website footer. They direct visitors to your Data Subject Access Request (DSAR) form, where they can follow through on their California privacy rights.
What are these two links?
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. Include this link if your organization operates in California and is subject to CCPA regulations.
Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information. Include this link if you collect any sensitive personal information.
Both links point to your DSAR form, so you can also use a single link that lets visitors act on both rights. If you prefer, you may still add both links separately to make each right clearly visible in your footer.
Where to find the California Requirements page
- Log in to your Termly dashboard.
- Use the website selector at the top of the page to choose the site you want to add the links to.
- From the left menu, open Consent Management.
- Under DSAR Manager, select California Requirements.
- Click Copy to Clipboard next to the link snippet. Paste the snippet into your website footer, or into any location where you want the link to appear.
Both snippets contain a link to your account's DSAR form (app.termly.io/notify/your-unique-id). This ID is generated automatically and is unique to your site, so copy the snippet exactly and do not edit the link.
Because both links direct visitors to the same DSAR form, you can add just one link to cover both rights if that suits your footer better.
For these links to work as expected, your DSAR form needs to be set up first. If you have not configured it yet, see How do I set up a DSAR form for my website visitors?.
If the links do not appear or do not open your DSAR form after you add them, contact our support team so we can take a further look.
