Termly’s consent banner settings can be configured differently based on user region, allowing for a more tailored and compliant experience depending on applicable privacy laws.
How to Configure Regional Display
Log in to your Termly dashboard.
Navigate to Consent Management > Consent Banner.
Select the region you want to configure (e.g., EU, US, or Global).
Configure the banner settings as needed.
5.Click Save at the bottom of the page.
This setup ensures that visitors see a version of the banner appropriate to their geographic location and relevant privacy regulations. Note that regional targeting is determined using IP-based geolocation. The banner shown to a visitor is based on their detected IP location at the time of visit.
What are the available regions in Termly?
Termly currently supports regional configurations for:
European Union (EU) – for GDPR compliance
-
United States (US) – now split into two sub-groups:
US States with active privacy laws
US States without privacy laws
Brazil
Global – for all other countries
This allows site owners to apply different consent rules and banner behavior based on the regulatory landscape in each region.
Why was the U.S. region split?
Termly now differentiates between U.S. states that have privacy legislation and those that do not. This update allows for more accurate banner behavior and improved compliance at the state level.
As part of Termly’s valuable service, we keep our users up to date on privacy laws, which are constantly changing. You can explore current and upcoming state-level legislation in our U.S. Data Privacy Laws Tracker
