The Address field in your Termly business profile uses Google Places Autocomplete. This means the address you enter must be confirmed by selecting a result from the dropdown typing the address manually and pressing Enter without selecting a suggestion will not save a valid, verified address. Address Line 2 is a free-form field where you can manually type additional details such as suite, unit, or floor number. It does not require Google verification.
Important: If you skip the dropdown selection, your business address may appear incomplete, fail to save correctly, or show an error when you attempt to generate or publish your privacy policy.
How the address field works
As you type in Address, Google's autocomplete service suggests matching addresses in real time. You must click one of these suggestions to populate and verify your address. This is what a correct interaction looks like:
Once you click a suggestion, the city, state, ZIP/postal code, and country fields are auto-filled. You should then review those fields for accuracy before saving.
Steps to correctly enter your business address
- Go to Dashboard → Settings →Business Information in your Termly dashboard.
- Click into the Address field and begin typing your street address.
- Wait for the Google suggestion dropdown to appear beneath the field.
- Click the correct address from the dropdown list. Do not press Enter or Tab to dismiss it.
- Verify that City, State/Province, ZIP/Postal Code, and Country were auto-populated correctly.
- Add an Address Line 2 (suite, unit, floor) manually if needed, this field does not require Google verification.
- Click Save.
Tip: If you do not see your address in the suggestions, try entering just the street number and the first word of the street name, then wait a moment for results to load.
What happens if you type without selecting
Manually typed addresses that were never confirmed via the dropdown are treated as unverified. Depending on your browser and session, you may see one of these outcomes:
- The address field clears or reverts when you click away.
- The city, state, and ZIP fields remain blank.
- A validation error appears when you attempt to save.
- Your published policy displays an incomplete or missing business address.
Do not use your browser's autofill (saved form data) to populate the Address field. Browser autofill bypasses the Google verification step and results in the same unverified-address issues described above.
