The account Owner has full control over the entire Termly account, including billing, users, and account settings. The Owner is the user who first created the account. Ownership is not transferred to an existing user. Instead, you update the current Owner's profile with the new person's name and email address on the Your Profile page.
Before you begin
- Only the current Owner can make this change. You must be logged in with the current Owner's account to update these details.
- Have the new Owner's full name and email address ready.
- The email address you enter becomes the login email for the Owner account going forward, so make sure it is correct and that the new Owner can access that inbox.
Steps to change the account Owner
- Log in to your Termly dashboard using the current Owner's account.
- Click the profile icon in the top right corner.
- Click the Owner's name to open the Your Profile page.
- Update the name and email address to the new account Owner's details.
- Click Save.
What happens next
- Termly sends a verification email to confirm the updated details. The change takes effect once it is verified.
- After the change is complete, the new Owner logs in with the updated email address and keeps full control over the account, billing, and all users.
- Existing domains, banners, policies, and other users on the account are not affected. Only the Owner's contact details and login email change.
Notes
- If you only need to update contact information (such as name, email, phone number, or address) without changing who the Owner is, use the Account Details page instead.
- To manage other roles on the account, such as Admins and Editors, see the user management guide.
If you run into any issues during the transfer, reach out to Termly support and we will be happy to help.
