In this support article, we’ll show you how to update your Termly privacy policy to comply with the data privacy laws in US states.

Termly makes updates to the policy generators to reflect changes in data privacy laws that may impact our users. When an update occurs, we email Termly users with information about the changes.
It is your responsibility to review your policies in your Termly dashboard, publish changes and inform your customers when your policy is updated.
In order to make your privacy policy compliant with US state privacy laws, log into your Termly Dashboard and follow these steps in your Privacy Policy builder.
Step 1
First, select Yes for the question, “Do you have users in the United States?”
Step 2
Specify if you have disclosed or sold/shared personal information to third parties, if you have not already done so.
Step 3
Decide if you want your policy to be covered by all US state privacy laws or only some. If you want to include all states, select Yes. If you want only some states, skip to Step 4.
Step 4
(Optional) If you only want some US state privacy laws to be covered in your policy, select No, let me choose, and choose the states you want.
Step 5
Complete the questions in the US Considerations section if you have not already done so.
Step 6
Provide an email address for appeals, in case your user wishes to appeal your business’s decision regarding a privacy request.
Only relevant some US state privacy laws. If you do not see this question, then it is not applicable to the state laws you have selected.
Step 7
Finally, click PUBLISH to update your policy.
