Termly now includes automated Google Consent Mode (GCM) validation to help ensure your website’s integration with Google Tag Manager (GTM) complies with privacy requirements and Google’s standards.
This feature checks whether your site is correctly sending consent signals before loading any Google tags — a key part of maintaining data privacy and your Google Certified CMP status.
What is GCM Validation?
Google Consent Mode allows websites to adjust how Google tags behave based on the user's consent. Termly’s GCM Compliance Scanner checks that:
The default consent state is set before Google tags (like GTM) load.
For returning users, the updated consent state is also set before Google tags load.
These validations help prevent improper data collection.
What Pages are Scanned?
Termly only scans the root domain and any additional URLs specified in the scan settings.
Full-site crawling is not performed during GCM validation scans.
GCM scans run on the same schedule as the automated cookie scans.
How to run GCM Validation?
1. Log in to your Termly dashboard and navigate to
Consent Management > Google Consent Mode.
2. Under Step 6, use the dropdown to select the region where the scan should be performed.
You can run a scan for any supported region.
The selected region will become your default for future automated scans.
If no region has been selected, US will be used by default.
3. Click the Scan now button.
4. Wait for the scan results to appear.
