The business address in your Termly account appears in your generated legal documents and is used to establish your regulatory jurisdiction. Below are the most common mistakes users make and how to avoid them.
Mistake 1 — Typing the full address then pressing Enter
This is the most frequent issue. Users type their complete address and press Enter, expecting it to save. The Enter key dismisses the dropdown without selecting any suggestion, leaving the field in an unverified state.
✗ Incorrect Type "456 Oak Avenue, Portland, OR" → press Enter
✓ Correct Type "456 Oak" → wait for dropdown → click the matching suggestion
Mistake 2 — Using browser autofill
When a browser autofill suggestion overlaps with the Google dropdown, clicking the browser suggestion populates the field with saved text but does not trigger Google verification. The remaining fields (city, state, ZIP) will not auto-fill, and the address is not validated.
Fix: Dismiss your browser's autofill by pressing Escape and then wait for the Google dropdown to appear instead.
Mistake 3 — Selecting a P.O. Box instead of a physical address
Google Places does not return P.O. Box results. If your only address is a P.O. Box, the dropdown will not match it and you will not be able to verify it through this field. Many privacy regulations also require a physical street address in published policies.
Mistake 4 — Adding suite/unit details in Address
Including suite or unit numbers directly in Address Line 1 (e.g., "200 Pine St Suite 400") can prevent the Google suggestion from appearing or result in no matches. Google's autocomplete works best with street number and street name only.
✗ Causes no results "200 Pine Street Suite 400, Seattle"
✓ Gets suggestions "200 Pine Street" → select → add "Suite 400" in Address Line 2
Mistake 5 — Closing the dropdown by clicking elsewhere
Clicking outside the dropdown (e.g., on another field) before selecting a suggestion dismisses the dropdown without verifying the address. The text you typed remains visible in the field but is not saved as a valid address.
Mistake 6 — Entering a non-Latin address without checking the result
If your business is located in a country where addresses use non-Latin characters, the Google suggestion may return a Romanized or translated version. Always verify that the suggestion displayed matches your actual business location before selecting it.
